RAMJACK and Peck Tech Consulting today announced their upcoming roadshow to South Africa where they will demonstrate uGPS Rapid Mapper™ – a laser-based mobile tunnel mapping tool for underground mining applications.
uGPS Rapid Mapper’s patented technology collects 3D point cloud data at rates up to 50 times faster than stationary laser scanners, vastly improving data timeliness and mine management intelligence. Underground mining applications include accelerating development pick-ups, volume calculations and shaft inspections.
This is a first for Africa. Since its launch in August 2014, the technology has generated significant interest from the global mining community and is coming off a highly successful deployment at a large gold mining operation in Nevada, USA. However, until now the technology has not been available in Africa.
Participating in the roadshow will be Andrew Chapman, Product Manager at Peck Tech Consulting, the developers of the technology, and Mike Jackson, Director of RAMJACK, the distributor for uGPS Rapid Mapper in Sub-Saharan Africa. Mr. Jackson will also be highlighting several other high-technology mining products for which RAMJACK holds the African distribution rights.
The roadshow will run from February 2nd – 12th, splitting time equally between Cape Town and Johannesburg. In all, Mr. Jackson and Mr. Chapman intend to meet with 10 mines and office headquarters to demonstrate the technology in action.
