Greetings Ramjack’ers,
With the halfway point of 2021 upon us, looking back on the first half of the year, we have a lot to celebrate. While the challenges have been many, the highlights continue to shine through, reminding us that the hard work and perseverance inherent in mining is a great way to weather almost any storm.
Welcoming Duncan Lee – General Manager, Africa – to our global executive team was a particular highlight for me. I’ve known Duncan for many years and his background, experience and leadership are already contributing substantially to the African team.
The first part of 2021 was also the time for us to kick-off the Ramp-up Phase of an ambitious new rROC program ready to tackle the challenge of improving OEE. The early days of any rROC program are the most exciting as we workshop the key levers for achieving the big gains. We’re now only weeks away from going live and capitalising on the great teamwork to-date.
New instrumentation programs have also been a highlight of the first half of 2021. We’ve assisted mines in establishing the viability of continuous backfilling as well as introduced exciting new technologies (georesistivity monitoring and distributed fibre sensing) to support real-time monitoring of tailings storage facilities.
We expect the months ahead to continue delivering surprises, so all of us at Ramjack are here to continue delivering support, advice, and above all, the understanding required to realise the true value of mining technology.
I always look forward to hearing your ideas, accomplishments, technology news, or anything that we can re-share with our network in the next Ramjack Review.
