The Level 9 standard, the latest in safety requirements, raises the bar significantly, requiring Proximity Detection Systems (PDS) to intervene mechanically, bringing a vehicle to a stop when a dangerous situation is detected. Booyco has elevated the functionality of their flagship PDS to meet these standards, continuing to give mine operations peace of mind that their most valuable asset – their people – gets home safely.
For both surface and underground mines
Pedestrians and drivers in the mine wear personal two-way RFID communication tags while vehicles or other static danger zones are fitted with VLF (very low frequency) antennae that energize as soon as the vehicle moves and creates two stable warning zones with predictable shape and size (up to 15m) in front of and behind the vehicle.
If a pedestrian approaches the danger zone near a vehicle, they will receive a warning, and because the system is two-way, the vehicle operator will also be alerted to their presence. Similarly, drivers are alerted if another vehicle comes too close to theirs for safety.
