What It Is?

Completely eliminating fatigue incidents in heavy industry requires a predictive monitoring solution that empowers operators to manage their own alertness, based on real-time information provided by scientifically proven sensors.
RAMJACK recommends proactive, medical science based Fatigue Management using proven electroencephalogram measurement standards to constantly monitor an individual’s alertness levels and provide real-time status updates on an in-cab screen. This information is wirelessly transmitted to a central server that supervisors use to access an overall view of the entire organisation’s fatigue levels, including large quantities of historical data for trending and root cause analysis.

How It Works?

RAMJACK utilises SmartCap’s proprietary ‘four levels of alertness’ to indicate an individual’s fatigue level. Equipment operators are able to manage their own fatigue through access to individual alertness levels via an in-cab display. Upon receiving a first warning of decreased alertness, the operator takes action long before he is at risk of a microsleep. Should alertness levels continue to drop, further alarms trigger the execution of SOPs to ensure supervisor intervention before any fatigue related incident occurs.

Why It Matters?

Long-term studies prove operator empowerment in this fashion helps operators learn how to better manage their own alertness. And, company-wide trend analysis informs organisations to better manage their fatigue-related risks and health and safety programs.
Backed by science, the SmartCap EEG-based system always works – at any speed, when the machine is in reverse and when the operator is looking away. It can’t be ‘tricked’ by drivers pretending to be tired, nor is it a punitive tool designed to ‘catch operators sleeping’.

Not only can RAMJACK help your operation completely eliminate fatigue related incidents, but increased alertness is also proven to improve productivity, reduce equipment wear and save on operating costs (such as fuel, tires, etc.). More alert operators will lead to fewer mistakes, improved performance and a more effective operation.
