Join industry experts as they discuss successful digital transformation.

Creating an environment that sets the industry up for success is essential.
To do this, we must remove our “capital-intensive project” lens and see technology adoption as a journey.
It’s an evolutionary process.

Here are some thoughts from our panelists on Unanswered Questions

Q: You spoke on small projects/wins. How do we go about choosing these?

A: The projects can have a bigger goal, but defining the milestones is vital. The key is to implement it in phases. These phases can be role-based, machine-type, or other objectives. We have seen customers implement equipment utilization for haulers as the first milestone before moving to other equipment. We have also seen customers validate data as the first step with data entry operators before introducing them to other users. The key is understanding the lowest barrier in your organization and identifying that as the first few milestones to implement.

Q: Data management is one of the biggest operational challenges with digital transformation. How do we plan for this?

A: It starts with an audit of the data and its purpose — i.e. where will it be used. And then designing a proper master data management system, with clear definitions of how it can be accessed and used, and how changes to the data will be handled.
